Here is a super rough draft of something I just had in mind. Not sure where I’ll take it yet, but I’m sure I’ll post more soon. Stay tuned.

News Brief! I certainly have been doing a lot more volunteer work these days, and this is no exception (I am in the middle of some other film/book related projects, but more from those at the end of the month) Here are a couple of flyers for another local non-profit, Pride at Work, that works with OSOF sometimes. I’m happy to spread the design love and do ma part, so here we go…

If it were only that simple. My good friend and illustrator extraordinaire, Taylor White, recently busted ass in what some would describe as an epic acrobatic gravity defying swan-dive into the Norwegian snow via snowboard. The end result was a broken wrist and 8 weeks recovery time. It just so happened that this feat occurred the week before she was due for a visit to the U.S. of A. I was thusly wrangled into making this old school plaster cast (they do things funky in Norway apparently) into an awesome work of art. The end result can be seen beloooooow!!!

She is now a lefty…

The meaty side…

The final detail. In spite of injury, she is still drawing and posting her rad left-handed squiggles!!!! So check out her RAD blog for more RAD work!!!!!!!! !!! !
UPDATE: Since i’ve had a few curious inquiries, I drew the bones and muscles on the plaster using micron pens, it took about an hour to do, and the bone color around it was a mixture of acrylic paint and matte medium, to make it pop more. I doubt this would have worked well on anything other than an old-school plaster cast (they don’t make them this way in America anymore apparently, they usually cover it with that really ridged & extremely textured plastic that comes in all colors), but maybe if you do break something you can request plaster, it’s a great canvas!
DOUBLE UPDATE: Taylor is back in action folks, look out. Alas, the back of the cast was sacrificed, but the skeletal part remains intact, score.

So this last weekend I worked two days on an NBC pilot for a new show called Trauma, about EMTs in SF (taking the place of the show ER I’m assuming) and basically worked as the assistant to the script supervisor, running around from camera to camera and collecting various details about lens, fps, angle, etc. They crashed 6 cars and blew up an oil tanker, there were 11 cameras in all to capture the one shot takes, 2 of which got totally or partially destroyed from the car collisions, and aside from being sick and getting totally sunburnt and it being super windy on the highway, it was pretty freaking awesome. The final explosion made it on the local news and the awesomeness can be seen below…

Obviously I can’t be seen, but I’m standing in the big group of people in the roadway. The resulting heat wave was kinda nice.

Enough with politics! Here is a cactus… possible tattoo, we’ll see.

So, I made a giant OSOF sign for the most recent prop 8 marches and rallies that took place in SF, and was just notified that for a breif moment this morning a large photo of it made its way to the front page of the NY Times!!! Here it is in all its glory:

Thanks Joe & Frank, glad you guys got some stellar publicity!!!

My posts have been quite political lately. But I am doing volunteer design for this march, so needless to say I’m going to be quite over my head in it till it’s over. Here is the latest. Enjoy!

I’ll explain later, it’s much too late…

That’s right guys, I put you in this poster. You know who you are. On a side note…

HA, nuff said. (and no, i didn’t make this) Also, some stellar individuals decided to Obamafy all the street signs on Bush street in SF.

i love this city :)

oh, i also love MSNBC ;)

is it just me, or does anyone else find these headlines wildly amusing?

hurray for crafty ad placement and copy!
Alrighty all, spread the word!!!!!! more flyers on the way, but i think these two are done for now. Feel free to repost these and get the word out!!!

POSTER REVAMP TIME!!! I didn’t do a whole lot here to change the design I was given, I just tried to make more sense of it (which I guess was pretty futile given the subject matter) but there you have it. Feel free to repost these images all over, we need some publicity for this indie feature!!! check out its website: http://asylumseekersmovie.com and join the facebook group if you can: facebook.com/pages/Asylum-Seekers
